Why it’s important to actively work on our communication and relationships

When we stop making an effort, we somewhat stop caring. It takes effort to keep a relationship alive, no matter what type of relationship it is. It could for example be towards a partner, friend, colleague, business partner, family member, or relative. But there’s also a relationship that will last for as long as you live, and that’s equally as important to actively work on i.e., the relationship you have with yourself.

The tough truth is that the responsibility lies with ourselves. If we want to have or maintain a certain relationship, it’s up to us as individuals to do whatever we can to make that happen. We have to make an effort to ensure a relationship feels alive, rewarding and inspiring.

It’s essential that we take responsibility for how we communicate with others, if we want them to listen to and be with us. Our communication is one of the most important tools when creating and maintaining relationships. What you communicate to others and yourself impacts the quality of the relationships in your life.

What should we do then? How can we improve our communication? Can we even train ourselves to become good at it? And how can we get better and healthier relationships? That’s what I will investigate in this blog, and I hope you want to join and share this journey with me. I will continuously dive into different aspects and angels of above mentioned subjects, as well as giving you my recommendations and challenge you to make changes. I hope the content of this blog will help you create a richer social life for yourself and those around you, containing more joy and love. Welcome, and happy reading!

Recommendation

  • Don’t put all the blame on someone else if a relationship is bad, or if you don’t seem able to communicate with each other. Don’t put all your focus into changing others, and instead use your energy and power where it makes the most use – in the work with yourself and your part of the story.

Challenge

  • Think about what relationships you:
    – are grateful to have in your life
    – are missing, but would like to have in your life
    – have in your life, but would like to improve
